Year 1 of Holiday Season Gift Art: The Frog

Gift buying in the boondocks had its limitations. My budget did too (still does!). I was just starting to produce sculpture. The holiday season hit and people expected gifts.

Why not make a few gifts? So it began. The Pollock holiday collection.

Funny thing though, the artwork that was being made at that time really didn’t have a seasonal/holiday theme. (frogs? really?) That has changed over the years.

Frog mobiles were first because that’s what I was working on at that point. They were well received so I kept making artistic gifts as well as other sculptures.

Decades of time and hundreds of objects later I’m trying to post them in the order they were made.

  1. We were eating inside, and I was sitting where I could see part of the back porch. Our frog was dancing in the wind! He was having a wonderful time on the railing, glad to be anchored firmly by a big rock. Even in his old age, I love that frog.
